Quick notes from Cath Smith, VCOSS CEO
|
Hello to you all as we wrap up 2011.
It’s been a great month with the Commonwealth’s very welcome commitment to fully fund equal pay and an industry support package. The final decision from Fair Work Australia, and implementation dates for the Modern Award will be known next week.
VCOSS will continue to work with both Federal and State Governments to achieve full funding of the decision. Watch this space for further updates.
In other big news, we are urgently pursuing recurrent government funding for the VCOSS Clearinghouse for which funding expires in December. We’ll keep you posted on progress.
Earlier this week we released the VCOSS 2012-13 State Budget Submission – Stronger People, Stronger State calling for investment in human capital to strengthen the economy, alongside
Stronger People, Stronger State: Focus on rural and regional Victoria. We’ll be campaigning through to May for these recommendations to be funded.
Thanks for all your support this year to make our work effective. We’ll be keeping up the momentum in 2012, in the meantime catch updates at vcoss.org.au.
We wish you all a fantastic summer break and look forward to seeing you for a fresh start in the New Year!
All the best. Cath
